Sam Altman’s tweet raises speculation of a new ChatGPT model
Sam Altman’s recent tweet about his garden has raised speculation about the launch of a new ChatGPT model. The image showcases four ripe and 1 unripe strawberry, which has flooded his comment section with speculation.
The CEO of OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, posted an image on X with the caption, “I love summer in the garden.” Even though a layman wouldn’t notice much other than the pot and the strawberries, speculators have dissected the image.

One X user asked what prompt was used for the picture, to which Sam replied that it was his actual garden. Another user named Mira tweeted: “4 strawberries… and another half-developed one… this must be a sign of GPT 4.5! and each strawberry is another month we have to wait.”
Community speculates the launch of ChatGPT 4.5
While some users are sticking to their speculation, others have perceived it as a normal image. However, Sam hasn’t responded to any of these speculations.
OpenAI announced their ChatGPT-4o on May 13, 2024. GPT-4o is their latest flagship model, which is claimed to have faster and better capabilities for text, voice and vision. The latest model also now supports over 50 languages, along with more advanced tools.
However, OpenAI has not yet made any announcements regarding the ChatGPT 4.5 model. Kristi Hines, a GPT builder, posted on X in April stating that GPT 4.5 Turbo will arrive in the summer.
Will OpenAI launch GPT-4.5 Turbo or GPT-5 as the rumored new model coming this summer?
My predictions:
☑️ GPT-4.5 Turbo for ChatGPT subscribers arrives in the summer. GPT-4 becomes freely accessible.

Additionally, she stated that GPT 5 for ChatGPT Enterprise is announced for DevDay 2024 in the fall.
OpenAI co-founder quits to join Anthropic
The tweet and all the speculation about the new model come after an announcement by OpenAI co-founder John Schulman that he was stepping down from OpenAI. John stated that he is joining Anthropic to focus on AI alignment.
I shared the following note with my OpenAI colleagues today:
I've made the difficult decision to leave OpenAI. This choice stems from my desire to deepen my focus on AI alignment, and to start a new chapter of my career where I can return to hands-on technical work. I've decided…

Joh, however, made it clear that he was not leaving due to the lack of support for alignment research at OpenAI. Instead, he stated that the decision was a personal one. John has been a part of OpenAI for almost seven years.
