Activision releases first Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode trailer
Activision released a trailer for the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The trailer revealed the game’s new characters and continued the Dark Aether storyline. The announcement also included a release date for the gameplay trailer, which airs on August 8th.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode will be released on October 25th, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. Prior to the release, Activision, the game’s developer, released a two-and-a-half-minute cinematic trailer for the game’s zombie mode.
The gameplay trailer revealed the game’s new characters. It also confirmed the continuation of the Dark Aether storyline that was embedded into other Call of Duty games, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Zombie mode.
Zombies mode trailer reveals new characters and storyline
The new trailer revealed the new characters appearing in the game’s zombie mode. The cinematic trailer revealed former Requiem senior staff members as part of the character lineup. Stoney Maddox (AKA Raptor One), Mackenzie “Mac” Carver, Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, and Oskar Strauss appear in the trailer as inmates in a prison. The character ensemble is completed by Maya Aguinaldo, a mysterious Filipina smuggler, and Dr. William Peck, a previous adversary who steps in to free the inmates from their captivity on Terminus Island amidst a chaotic dimensional outbreak.
The events in the trailer showcase the continuation of the Dark Aether storyline, which was introduced in Black Ops Cold War Zombies. The storyline started in the 1980s when the Soviet Union and the USA engaged in an arms race to take over an experiment project titled Projekt Endstation left over from World War II. The race resulted in the development of technology that allowed the deformed and corrupted Apothicons to cross over to Earth from a parallel universe, seeking to destroy everything in the multiverse.
The United States, along with NATO, formed Requiem, led by Edward Richtofen, to combat outbreaks worldwide. However, following the events of The Forsaken, Weaver and his fellow Requiem staff were sent to Terminus Island under Richtofen’s orders.
The new trailer picks up from this point, where Dr. William Peck and Maya break into the Terminus Island facility to free the imprisoned Requiem members. The confrontation results in the two groups agreeing to work together to go after Richtofen, who is identified as the mastermind behind the Requiem members’ imprisonment.
