Bored Ape’s Yuga Labs Introduce First Bitcoin NFTs, TwelveFold

full version at nftlately

The NFT world just got even more exciting! Last night, the $4B non-fungible token (NFT) company Yuga Labs — responsible for the world-famous NFT collection Bored Ape Yacht Club — revealed it is launching a brand spanking new NFT project.

Consequently, TwelveFold is set to join the latest trend and drop on the Blockchain network later this week.

Quick Take:

  • Yuga Labs is launching its first-ever Bitcoin-based NFT project, TwelveFold, at the end of this week.
  • Using Ordinals, TwelveFold will showcase a 12×12 grid format. Each piece will pay homage to the data storage method on the Bitcoin network.
  • Only 300 of these collectibles will be up for grabs, rather than Yuga’s typical amount of 10,000 NFTs or more.

About Yuga Labs’ First Bitcoin-Based NFTs

Yuga Labs is getting ready to drop a special-edition NFT collection on the Bitcoin network for the first time. The NFTs will feature 300 state-of-the-art generative art pieces, each inscribed onto the Bitcoin blockchain.

The innovative, OG blockchain company took to Twitter to share the good news:

Similarly to DeGods, Yuga Labs will be using Ordinals. This recently launched method is a new, novel approach for embedding media and artwork in the Bitcoin blockchain that permanently links each item to an individual “Satoshi”, which adds up to 1/100,000,000 of an entire Bitcoin (BTC).

Following on, each TwelveFold collectible will showcase a 12×12 grid to pay tribute to how data is stored on the Bitcoin network. Such unique pieces will also feature a blend of hand-drawn elements and 3D graphics, all crafted by Yuga Labs’ in-house art team.

Distinctive Features – What Sets TwelveFold Apart

Operating on the Bitcoin blockchain, Twelvefold represents a significant deviation from Yuga Labs’ past endeavors on-chain in a few notable ways.

Most significantly, Yuga Labs’ new digital collectibles will be utterly independent of its Ethereum-based collectibles, like Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and plots for Otherside, among others.

The OG NFT company also owns the ever-so-famous NFT collectibles Meebits and CryptoPunks on the Ethereum network, since purchasing the IP rights of both projects from Larva Labs last year. Interestingly, TwelveFold has the most similarities to Larva Labs’ project Autoglyphs — comparably consisting of a small amount of digital assets, rather than Yuga’s standard amount of 10,000 or more.

As a result, this upcoming project promises to be a unique and exciting addition to the NFT landscape for all Yuga Labs, Larva Labs, and Bitcoin fans to enjoy.
