On July 12, 2024, the Build on ICP Hackathon winners were announced at an exciting IRL Showcase event held in Lisbon, Portugal. This hackathon, hosted by ICP Hub Portugal brought together talented developers and teams eager to make their mark in the Web3 space.

With a prize pool of $15,000, participants competed across two tracks: AI/Infrastructure and Main/Generic. The competition was fierce, and the solutions presented were a testimony to the incredible potential of ICP.

The Build on ICP Hackathon

The Build on ICP Hackathon attracted developers and teams ready to explore ICP’s possibilities.  Participants were tasked with developing unique projects that could continue beyond the hackathon, with the incentive of winning substantial prizes and securing major project support.

The event offered participants a unique opportunity to demonstrate their skills and creativity to a diverse group of judges, including top venture capitalists, well-known builders, and established Web3 founders.

Infrastructure Track Winners

1st Place: mBlinks

mBlinks was announced as the first-place winner in the Infrastructure Track. This project offers a no-code toolkit that enables Web3 businesses to initiate crypto transactions from Web2 channels. mBlinks, as of multi-chain blockchain links, primary function is to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3, allowing businesses to engage with a broader audience without needing extensive technical expertise.

mBlinks makes it significantly easier and safe to do Web3 actions, allowing for parameter based transactions to happen and significantly decreasing churn risk. . It does so by providing a platform where businesses can define transactions through no-code tools and share them via links, QR codes, or web snippets, mBlinks simplifies initiating crypto transactions. These transactions are executed on a secure IC-hosted page, where users can connect their wallets and complete the defined actions.

2nd Place: DynaNFT Hub

DynaNFT Hub secured second place in the Infrastructure Track. The project is about NFT creation, storage, and management using ICP. It offers true decentralisation and NFTs that evolve over time.

The platform features a dual-canister system for scalable performance and user-friendly interfaces for easy management. With simple HTTP requests for metadata retrieval and unlimited scalability, DynaNFT Hub caters to everyone from beginners to enterprises with its tiered freemium model. Future plans include batch collection creation, automated updates, advanced analytics, and marketplace integration.

3rd Place: Launcher

Launcher took third place in the Infrastructure Track with its comprehensive platform designed to simplify the deployment of decentralised applications (dApps) on the IC Protocol.

Using NFID, users can sign in with an experience similar to Web2. After signing in, users can press one button to transfer ICP and create their digital user profile. This profile becomes part of the Launcher DAO, granting each user voting power equal to 1 divided by the number of deployers. Once part of the network, users can share daily updates and connect with friends.

Main/Generic Track Winners

1st Place: Homevestors DAO

Homevestors DAO claimed the top spot in the Main/Generic Track. This project is changing buy-to-let investments by democratising property investment and making it accessible and rewarding for everyone. Historically, real estate has been a lucrative investment limited to the wealthy due to high upfront costs. Homevestors DAO breaks down these barriers through property fractionalisation, tokenomics, and an asset-backed stablecoin.

Homevestors DAO introduces Loan Non-fungible Tokens (LNFTs) and Capital Appreciation Non-fungible Tokens (CANFTs) as key components of its platform. LNFTs represent £1000 of equity within a property and cover 75% of a property’s purchase price. These tokens can be exchanged for an asset-backed stablecoin, HGB, maintaining their value through arbitrage opportunities. CANFTs, on the other hand, offer liquid property ownership with smaller upfront costs, granting 100% ownership of future capital appreciation.

The judges praised Homevestors DAO for its ability to democratise property investment and make it accessible to a wider audience. The project’s potential to increase profits from rent, maximise capital appreciation through leverage, and eliminate reliance on traditional mortgages set it apart as a game-changer in the Web3 space. Also its ability to make property investment simple, accessible, and highly profitable.

2nd Place: Receipt Hub

Receipt Hub is a blockchain-based platform built on ICP that offers a secure and efficient solution for managing digital receipts. It provides user-friendly registration and authentication with “Internet Identity”, role-based access, and decentralised receipt storage. Businesses can generate and store digital receipts with detailed information, while users can easily retrieve individual or grouped receipts.

The platform features a dashboard interface for tracking key metrics, search functionality, and potential API integration with POS systems. ReceiptHub aims to reduce paper waste and comply with financial regulations. Future plans include enhanced analytics, mobile applications, and multi-currency support.

3rd Place: Raygen Protocol

In third place, we have Raygen Protocol. This project leverages fashion and blockchain to promote sustainable practices through RAVE (Real Asset Virtually Extended) assets, starting with custom shoes. Using ICP’s affordable canister smart contracts, each shoe is linked to a unique digital twin via an NFC chip. This chip, embedded in the shoe, contains the URL of its corresponding canister.

Scanning the NFC tag with a smartphone redirects to the canister, verifying the shoe’s authenticity through an immutable blockchain process. This integration ensures asset authenticity, links physical items to their digital counterparts, and offers limitless potential for integration with dApps, wallets, and the metaverse.

Incredible Talent at Build on ICP Hackathon 2024

The Build on ICP Hackathon showcased the incredible talent and innovation within the ICP community. The winners, mBlinks and Homevestors DAO, exemplify the potential of the IC Protocol to transform industries and create a more inclusive and sustainable future. As these projects continue to develop and grow, they will undoubtedly significantly impact the Web3 space and beyond.
