Playboy Confirms Debut of Anticipated MetaMansion This Year

It’s time to get ready for the Playboy MetaMansion. In NFT Paris last week, Liz Suman, the head of Playboy’s Web3 team, confirmed that the virtual world is set to debut this year and that there would be entry points for people who aren’t part of the magazine brand’s Rabbitar community.
In an interview, Suman, vice president of art, editorial, and Web3 at the 70-year-old media company, stated, “It’s been the plan all along for the Rabbitars to be the VIPs of the MetaMansion experience.”
Banking on Metaverse Experience
It was revealed in the summer of 2022 that they will be working together on this project with Animoca Brands’ The Sandbox. But, at this time, more information is being withheld from the public. Suman called the MetaMansion the “north star” of Playboy’s Web3 strategy since it expands upon the company’s previous efforts in the metaverse.
The organization released its first NFT collection in 2021, drawing on its extensive photographic and artistic archival holdings. In the fall of that year, 11,953 of the “Rabbitar” avatars—3D rabbit character NFTs—were made available for purchase. Trading volume for the collection on NFT marketplace OpenSea was 2,779 ETH ($4.5 million) as of this writing.
Anyone without a Rabbitar should still be able to enter the MetaMansion, but according to Suman, they won’t be able to see all there is to see.
Suman has stated that the intention is this year for the opening of the MetaMansion, but no other information has been revealed. Looking at the big picture of media businesses embracing the metaverse, Suman said she would advise traditional media doubters to take a “deeper look” at what the sector has to offer.
