Uniswap has responded to the SEC Wells notice, accusing the agency of overreach. CEO Hayden Adams criticized the SEC’s harmful approach towards consumers and innovation. Uniswap argues that it does not require broker registration, asserting that its transactions aren’t securities and comparing itself to Coinbase Wallet, which was defended in a similar lawsuit. Additionally, Uniswap disputes claims about its roles of solicitation and depository, asserting that its UNI token does not meet the Howey test for securities. As a result, Uniswap is currently prepared to file a suit against the SEC.
